Strengthening Muscles – You can increase strength in the muscles with the help of holding positions in Yoga. These holding positions are not at all uncomfortable but they require concentration which in turn strengthens very muscles and muscle groups. Regular yoga can help in lessening pain and can also eliminate pain. Stretching and relaxation- Yoga not only strengthens the muscles but also help in stretching and relaxation. It reduces tension in stress-carrying muscles. While doing Yoga it is very important to keep in mind the breathing pattern. It is advisable to hold the breath while holding a position and release breathe while releasing holding position. Posture balance - Consistent practice of yoga helps in improving body alignment and posture. Proper body posture helps to maintain the natural curvature of the spine, which in turn helps in reducing lower back pain. Some poses for relieving back pain are Pigeon Pose, Downward-Facing Dog, Child's Pose, Triangle Pose, Cat and Cow Pose, Upward-Facing Dog , Bridge (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)etc. But is advisable to visit a doctor before starting these types of exercises as he can suggest poses as per the amount of pain you are facing. |
